As a rough guideline, administrators usually require editors to have made more than 500 useful non-botlike edits, and to have been active in the last thirty days. Patrollers and License reviewers don't have to request this flag.
@Kd289: I see a bunch of copyvios from April 2024. I'd like to hear from Kd289 about what steps they've taken or what lessons they've learned since then to prevent copyright issues. Abzeronow (talk) 19:07, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I would like to be able to upload sound files of birds. In particular, I have made a Huia recording that I intend to license permissively, of my own rendition of the extinct bird as recorded on RadioNZ in the early 1900s, and I want to be able to upload that file. Thank you. Richlitt (talk) 06:32, 8 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Your edit count is still rather low and you can already use ogg for sound recordings. New Zealand would require the author be dead before 1975 and the US would require sound recordings released before 1925. (Huia would definitely have been recorded before 1925 though). Given your experience, I would grant the flag if you had a slightly higher edit count. (I suppose I could grant the flag on a temporary basis for you while your edit count would go up organically). Done for 3 months Considering the nature of your uploads and that you seem to have an understanding of COM:DW already, I think Abzeronow's idea of giving this to you temporarily while your edit count increases (and then getting it permanently once that happens) is perfectly fine. Hello, I usually draw vector images related to heraldry and vexillology primarily for Guyana and the Caribbean and need to overwrite files related to those. Thanks. --BaronJaguar (talk) 15:22, 8 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Yes that is one of them. Sometimes other emblems and flags come to light and i try to do digital images as accurately as possible so this would help in the long run. much appreciated. BaronJaguar (talk) 20:48, 8 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I don't see red any red flag either, nevertheless I suggest uploading the next version of Coat of arms of Trinidad and Tobago to a new new file, that will be renamed if needed, as the split induced db issues, resulting in an impossibility of fixing structured data (modifiying it on the splitted file changes the data on the other file (2)…) and perhaps other problems. maybe the current File:Coat of arms of Trinidad and Tobago.svg should be deleted/redirected, like a duplicate, to File:Coat of arms of Trinidad and Tobago (1962–1925).svg, which will allow a clean start for the new version, as well as the preservation of the original file history on commons pages (Featured picture candidates 2012, etc.). then the regular global replace processus on projects can be done. Kontributor 2K (talk) 23:06, 9 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I understand. As it stands File:Coat of arms of Trinidad and Tobago.svg is my work, but due to the actions by the user who did the split, it comes up as their name, and prevents me from making routine edits to my work. My only concern is if i upload an edit to my work as a new file, we will have the process where my current file already has been substituted in wherever the coat of arms appears, and that process would need to be done again. but if this is the feasible solution regarding that specific file then i can go ahead and make the upload. Hello. In general, I'm mainly focused on translations, of which I've already done quite a few (which are correct - no need to patrol), and there's no problem with my files (the last time I was warned about it was 5 months ago). Thank you. BZPN (talk) 12:06, 9 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Since then I have gained more experience, and there are no problems with the files I have recently uploaded (correctly described, no doubts about copyright issues). The September 2024 copyvios were 5 months ago, so I had enough time to improve :). BZPN (talk) 21:48, 9 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, I am requesting access to this tool as I am planning to start diffusing categories of Indian politicians starting with Category:Rajnath Singh which has 799 files in the main category. A month ago I did this at Category:Raj Kumar Singh both manually and with Cat-a-lot. It took a lot of my time and AWB will make things easier. Thank you. Recently I've been dealing with vandalism using the RTRC tool. (for example, check my patrol log) Caption changes are quite difficult to revert using Twinkle or other tools, and using "undo" requires an additional step. I think getting rollback would improve this and make it easier for me to revert vandalism and other unhelpful changes. Thank you. CutlassCiera13:58, 6 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
As a rough guideline, administrators usually require editors to have made at least 1,000 useful, non-botlike edits or a large amount of justified renaming requests at Commons before they will consider granting the filemover right.
@Monica Bonilla (WMCO): if you only need the flag to make a very little edit it one single campaign page, I don't think granting the flag is sustainable. If you need the flag in future as well to work with more campaigns, please let me know, and also confirm that you have been through the documentation and are aware of the stuff. signed, Aafi (talk)08:31, 5 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Aafi: I confirm that I will be organizing and participating in different campaigns that we will carry out in Wikimedia Colombia. At least this year we will do 3 more campaigns, so I ask you to authorize the editing permissions for my user. Thank you! M. Monica Bonilla (WMCO) (talk) 19:21, 10 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
